The Lord Has Chosen Zion
A Song of Ascents.
1
Remember, O LORD, in David's favor, all
1
the hardships he endured,
2
how he swore to the LORD and
2
vowed to
3
the Mighty One of Jacob,
3
"I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
4
I will not
4
give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
5
until I
5
find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for
6
the Mighty One of Jacob."
6
Behold, we heard of it in
7
Ephrathah; we found it in
8
the fields of Jaar.
7
"Let us go to his dwelling place; let us
9
worship at his
10
footstool!"
8
11
Arise, O LORD, and go to your
12
resting place, you and the ark of your
13
might.
9
Let your
14
priests be
15
clothed with righteousness, and let your
16
saints shout for joy.
10
For the sake of your servant David,
17
do not turn away the face of
18
your anointed one.
11
19
The LORD swore to David a sure oath
20
from which he will not turn back:
21
"One of the sons of your body
a
I will set on your throne.
12
If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall
22
sit on your throne."
13
For the LORD has
23
chosen Zion; he has
24
desired it for his dwelling place:
14
"This is my
25
resting place forever; here I will
26
dwell, for I have desired it.
15
I will abundantly
27
bless her provisions; I will
28
satisfy her poor with bread.
16
Her
29
priests I will clothe with salvation, and her
30
saints will shout for joy.
17
There I will make
31
a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared
32
a lamp for
33
my anointed.
18
His enemies I will
34
clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine."
